Web + You = WebMaking

The main thing that this post will make sure you understand is,How the web works and how can YOU as an individual from any department or discipline WITHOUT any high Techie-Techie KNOWLEDGE of coding make your own personalized web content and using whatever you find is best from the web!well, the new and the MOST student friendly thing that I'm gonna share is the new project of MOZILLA..That is the Webmaker!!We the students from various departments,we always want to learn and build cool stuffs and present it in the best possible way we can in our day to day life..Isn't it? But,most of us can just get the information from the web and most of the times it happens that we don't find all the things that we would like to speak to the audience! MOREOVER,the more pages I'm searching I m taking down consuming more of the web and its services that would not have been necessary if we had all the information in just one place,Right?

Remember when we were toddlers,we used to scribble on every white space we used to find with the running notes from the teachers of those subjects we found tough. Now,well for the first time the webmaker with let you have this concept in the web!! So,for students with this you just can not only make web but also make your own personalized content and use it to represent your feelings and make it more interactive to the users who are using it!!
HOW??The three webmaker tools are:1.Popcorn2.Xray goggles3.ThimbleWell,Now lets jump into the depth of how each of these can immensely help you in creating something absolutely new of your own that will have some added features like

  1. More information
  2. More Grip over the content and target audience
  3. More maneuverability
  4. More interactivity
  5. Lessen the time to search and wastage of bandwidth
Lemme just talk a little bit about the points and then jump right off with the tools:More information is said to happen when I can just club more and more information in a particular page and strip down the page to its bare essentials and show the topic relevant information which in programming is "abstraction"More grip over the content and target audience is possible when we can categorize the page into the various categories be it demographically and even age wise usage..which will also help the localization group to perform better,More maneuverability means when i can switch from a crude to a refined mode of surfing which means that suppose if i m in look out for where element X is found and element Y is an alternative for element Y..The page should show me links as to where I can look for element Y is my search for element X gets you nowhere.More interactivity,Like I already said..Think yourself as the next web maker and create things that will help not only you to present your stuffs better but also make sure the whole world can interact with it and in no given point of time it becomes monotonous.Like one can start using a video as a source and start adding up more relevant content which come handy later..similar to the book scribbling example that I was talking about..You write the extra running notes on the particular white space and and thereby increase the productivity of the page. Lessen the abuse of bandwidth- In a country like India where half the people face server downtime scenario almost everytime, and the obvious reasons being the number of searches for local information is way over the limits. This happens because the person doesn't get satisfactory search results in the first go leaving him no other option to search again and again, which after a particular amount of time takes a toll on the bandwidth of the operator and sometimes even we face problem of unavailability of information,Having said that,Now lemme just jump to the depth of the tools that Mozilla provides as a part of webmaker

Popcorn: well popcorn is a video editor,This helps an user to just go ahead and add any data which will he find essential with the help of various events[popup, textbox, objects, wikilinks] and images[from urls and uploads].This is much like the thing that we did in the book-scribbling thing..The example being that a video of a volcanic eruption is just a video but adding some wikilinks, dates, times and even text boxes about the last time the eruption took place will make it more informative, more interactive and help others get all the related information in just one go..Because all you know is,with events and without events the video will take the same time to load and hence will just help one explore more information and save good amount of  resource.

Xray Goggles comes to play when a person wants to go deeper and wants to be friends with the web elements. The three kinds of elements that majorly consists the web are the
1.Media[img,video]
2.Styling Sheet[CSS]
3.HTML

Now,This Xray works much like the normal Xray does,It just helps you see through the elements of a particular page and gives u the control to decide what you want to keep and what you don't want to.Which will give you the right to go down and reach the age group mentality of the people who are using that page the most.Plus, this way I can even help a page to get ported from from locale to another which will get a better reach and help mozilla's localization team.

.Finally the Thimble, well this is something where you get to create your own page WITHOUT buying any DNS or Server!! The page is divided into two parts where you have a editor on the left side and the output of the code on the write side, you can go ahead put your html, css and js code and get the instantaneous output without taking the pain of reloads and to add cherry to the pie..This thimble points out the mistake so one can even start learning HTML5,CSS3 and JS without goin through the pre-medieval process of coding in a notepad and saving it with .html extension!! offlate I spoke about some of these technologies and I would like to create more awareness about the web-literacy initiative of mozilla and create new and emerging webmakers who will carve the foreseeable future of the new open web era.
